Happy Halloween!

We carved pumpkins last night outside in the nice cool air. In order to do this on bed rest you have to have a husband who is willing to do all the set up, heavy lifting, and clean up then sit with your feet up and carve away! I enjoyed sitting outside and getting into the Halloween spirit. Tonight Bailey is dressed as a skeleton and John has to get the door every time the bell rings. He didn't realize how many children live in our neighborhood! I am 34 weeks pregnant today so we took some belly pictures too.

5 Weeks Down

I spent this weekend with my parents. It was great to be able to spend so much time with them. My mom absolutely spoiled me all weekend. With my parents taking care of me John was able to have some much deserved fun. He played golf and went to the Texans game. This past week I've become a lot more uncomfortable as these babies grow and grow. I have a lot of trouble sleeping now. I can only sleep for about an hour at a time so I am pretty tired. Bed rest isn't so bad when your this tired and can barely move as it is! My blood pressure was good until I went to the doctor this morning. I think they must make me nervous. :) It wasn't high enough to send me back to the hospital though. The babies heart rates were strong again. I've gained a total of 33 pounds so far. The doctor answered a lot of my questions about labor and delivery today. Basically we have to wait until I go into labor before we know if I have to have a c-section or not. I am getting more and more excited to meet these two little ones who have been kicking me so much the past few months. My dad is visiting me on Friday for lunch. Our good friends Jake and Maria are coming over on Sunday to watch the Texans game. I look forward to our visitors!

32 Week Ultrasound

Babies were looking good this morning! There isn't much room in there so it was difficult for the technician to get all of the measurements. She estimates our baby boy is 4 lbs 11 oz and our little girl is 4 lbs 3 oz. I am so glad they are already such a good size. Although it does scare me to think how big they will be in a few more weeks! I've also been monitoring my blood pressure and it's been good for the past few days. Thank you for the thoughts and prayers everyone! I am looking forward to a visit today from my mom and my best friend's mom Debbie. It will be nice to have some company! At the ultrasound this morning, we couldn't see our baby boy's face because of his position. Here is a profile picture of our little girl.

Four Weeks Down and a Trip to OB Observation

At my weekly doctor's appointment this morning I found out that I had high blood pressure. My doctor was concerned enough to send me to OB observation at the hospital. John came home from work to go with me. I was hooked up to a bunch of monitors to make sure the babies were okay and to continuously monitor my blood pressure. The babies were great and I wasn't having any contractions. My blood pressure slowly went back down to normal. I was sent home with orders of a more strict bed rest. I can basically get up to shower and eat. We have to get these babies to 36 weeks so keep the prayers coming!! We have an ultrasound on Thursday to check the babies' growth. Oh...and on the way home from the hospital there was a car accident right next to us at a light. We were so lucky that either car did not plow into us. Talk about raising your blood pressure!!! I really think we had our guardian angels surrounding us today.

I can't believe I've been on bed rest for a month already. Time has really gone by quickly. This week I've developed pretty constant back pain. I think my tummy gets bigger every day! I've spent my time scrap booking, working through a book of puzzles, and sleeping. John and I played Monopoly and cards this weekend. I had a few visitors from work and really enjoyed catching up with them. It made me realize that I do miss my job!

Three Weeks Down

I look at the ticker on this blog and today it says 60 days until my due date. How did that happen so quickly? I can't believe we are only two months away! This past week went by really fast. We celebrated our anniversary, had lots of visitors, and two doctor's appointments so I was pretty occupied. This very rainy weekend John and I watched a lot of golf, watched movies, played Trivial Pursuit (I lost), and played dominoes. We enjoyed the quiet time together knowing it is precious. I had my doctor's appointment today and everything is still looking good. The babies have been VERY active the past week. At the 4D ultrasound Clara had turned and was head down. Now only if she will stay that way I may not have to have a c-section. I guess that will be decided at a later date. My blood pressure was good and their heartbeats were strong. All around a good appointment. We have another ultrasound next week to check growth. I of course can't wait to see them again. It's amazing. Here is what www.babycenter.com said about their development this week:

This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He's probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby's kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.

5 Year Anniversary and 4D Ultrasound

Five years ago today I married my very best friend. I can't believe that it's been that long already. Time goes by so quickly. I can honestly say every day we are married it just gets a little sweeter. John is a great husband who makes me feel so loved and cherished. I love it that he makes me laugh every day. I learn so much from him and he truly makes me a better person. Recently he has been my knight in shining armor. He has taken the reigns in all areas of our household since I've been on bed rest. I can't adequately express my gratitude towards him. I am so excited to meet our children in a few short months and start our next adventure together of being parents. I know John will be an amazing and supportive father to our twins. John, I love you so much! Happy Anniversary!

One of the best things about today was that we had our 4D ultrasound. It is difficult to get clear photos of twins because of the lack of room. I don't know how they are coping in there. It seemed like there were hands, feet, and umbilical cords everywhere! The ultrasound tech did a great job and got some pretty good photos. I can't believe how much we love these two babies already. I am in awe every time I see them. They are amazing! John labeled the photos so that those who have not had the ultrasound experience might be able to see them better.

Dinner with Friends

I met this group of girls the second year I worked at my elementary school. We quickly became really good friends. We don't all work together anymore but we make sure to get together every month for dinner. Since I am on bed rest instead of going out last night they brought John and I dinner, baby presents, and yummy cake. I am so thankful to have them in my life. Thanks for everything girls. Your visit made my week!

Two Weeks Down

I thought I would last longer then this but in the middle of last week I started feeling restless and bored. It is very sad when you are happy about going to Walgreen's to get your flu shot. It's even more sad when they take 30 minutes for no real reason and you don't mind at all. I could have sat there for an hour and it wouldn't have bothered me. Oh how the little things entertain me these days. Last week my good friends Lisa and Lindsey stopped by to say hi. Lisa brought John and I two casseroles which was so appreciated! My dad came by again and brought me Chipotle for lunch. I really enjoy his company each week. I seem to be sleeping more and more these days which passes the time nicely. I read four books and watched so much daytime TV that I could probably tell you the line up on Food Network, HGTV, and TLC.

On Saturday night, Mark and Sarah hosted a couple's baby shower for John and I. My doctor allowed me to go as long as I stayed off my feet for the majority of the time. It was so great to get out of my house for something besides a doctor's appointment. I now refer to this evening as my "great escape." The shower was wonderful. Mark and Sarah really did a great job. It was also a great night because the guests were some of our oldest and closest friends from high school and college. We are blessed to have such great friends! Here are a few pictures:

I had my doctor's appointment this morning. All is well. Bed rest seems to be doing the trick! At 30 weeks, I've gained 25 pounds so far. My doctor said the babies looked great in our last ultrasound. Our little boy is big and is in the 75th percentile for size while our little girl is average in the 50th percentile for size. My doctor thinks I will probably have to have a c-section since our little girl is breech. Our next ultrasound to check growth is in two weeks. We have our 4D ultrasound this Friday and I hope the babies cooperate so we can have a few good pictures.
