Changing so much

It seems like George and Clara are changing every day!  Fun things first.  George is interested in standing on our laps now.  He thinks that the world is hilarious and laughs all the time.  George reaches for Clara whenever they are in close proximity.  The first time he did, I just melted.  His head strength is getting better so we notice the Torticollis improving.  He loves to kick things and has figured out if he kicks the activity mat it changes the music.  Both babies love listening to books, which amazes me at this young of an age.  The other day I was reading a book about colors that has pictures of babies doing different things.  When I got to the page that talks about the color grey George laughed at the picture of the smiling baby.  I thought it was a coincidence but every time I read it to them he laughs at the same baby.  It's awesome!  They also watched their first Baby Einstein video and seemed to enjoy it.  Miss Clara still loves sitting up and standing.  In the mornings she babbles to wake us up instead of crying.  She can do this for up to 20 minutes without getting annoyed.  It is so funny to listen to her and much nicer to wake up to!  Whenever I go to get her out of her crib, just as I peek in she looks over at me with the biggest smile on her face.  She gets excited and kicks her feet.  It is a great way to start my days!

Since starting solid foods, George and Clara's schedule has totally changed.  This is a difficult thing for Mommy who likes her days to be predictable.  Miss Clara is no longer sleeping through the night.  In fact she has added two feedings during the night which makes for exhausted parents.  We thought we were beyond this stage but I guess we were wrong.  I hope this is just a short phase and we can get back to a full nights sleep soon.  We get out more and more these days.  We went shopping with Grammy Quinn during her spring break.  The babies were so good and boy did she spoil them!  We have so many cute summer outfits thanks to Grammy.  We also had a really nice lunch at one of my favorite Italian places.  It was just a wonderful day spent with my mom!  I can't wait until the summer and we have more opportunities to get out with her.

We were able to go out to dinner for my Mom's birthday.  It was so nice to have a great dinner with my family without having to worry about the babies.  They were in the good hands of our very good friends Mark and Sarah.  They are expecting a little girl in June so we now owe them 2 nights of babysitting when they are ready to venture out of the house after Addison arrives.  In other exciting news, my cousin Tarala had a healthy baby girl named Sydney last week.  George and Clara have a cousin!  We can't wait until we can meet little Miss Sydney.  She is adorable!

Cherish the moments

If it's possible I think time goes by faster when you have children.  I look at these two beautiful babies sleeping in their cribs at night and I think where did the time go?  How did they get so big?  They are three times their birth weight already!  Some days I am so overwhelmed by the daunting task of caring for two babies that I wish the day away.  Now I want them back!  Life is a little sweeter with my days filled with the cooing and giggles of George and Clara.  Before I know it they'll be crawling then walking then talking.  For now I am savoring every moment, especially the quiet ones where I get to gaze into these little faces and think, "How did I get so lucky?"

Happy Four Month Birthday!

George and Clara are four months old!  How time flies.  At their check up we found out they are both average for the age and weight...wahooo!!  That's a long way from their two month appt when they were barely on the charts.  The doctor said they look great and we are so pleased.  They had three shots each which was no fun but we survived the day. We also tried rice cereal for the first time.  Clara seemed to like it and ate quite a bit.  George on the other hand made hilarious faces and pushed most of it out of his mouth.  The doctor said keep trying until they get the hang of it so we will.  Once they can eat the rice cereal well, we can move on to veggies.  Dinner time is starting to get interesting!

George is still such a happy baby.  He LOVES the ceiling fan.  Since it has gotten warm here we've turned the fan on and George thinks this is the most hilarious thing ever.  He lays on the ground, looks up the fan, smiles, and giggles.  If he catches the fan out of the corner of his eye while eating or doing anything else he just laughs.  It is precious.  He is doing really well in his crib at night and is really close to rolling over from his back to his tummy.  Ms. Serious Clara still loves to sit up and stand up so she can see what is going on around her.  She found the high register of her voice this week so she spends most of her time screeching.  Her smiles are more elusive so when she does smile it is just beautiful! Both of them are cooing more and seems to "talk" to each other while playing.  They are also so much more aware of each other.  Clara stares at George and George just smiles at Clara.  Since the weather is better we go for a walk most days.  It feels great to get exercising again.  In a few months the babies can go in a jogging stroller and I can kick it up a notch.

We had our first adventure to the mall.  I was able to buy the twins their Easter outfits and also a few things for myself.  Clara was very interested in what was around her and George slept the whole time.  I enjoyed the outing and was pleased that we made it without any disasters.  The twins had their first non-family member babysit them this week.  John and I had a cocktail party to attend for his work so our very good friends Mike and Megan babysat.  They said George was so good but of course Clara was a little more of a challenge.  They offered to watch them again so I guess they weren't too bad!  We were so appreciative that they helped us out.  It was nice to get dressed up, throw on some heels, and talk with adults!
