28 Week Ultrasound

It was great to see the babies again! Baby boy weighs 3.2 pounds and baby girl weighs 2.8 pounds. Baby boy is head down while baby girl is breech. Both heart rates were strong again. At one point in the ultrasound our baby girl had her foot in our baby boy's throat. We were laughing that she is mad at him for taking all the food. Poor guy is already getting beat up by his sister. They got a few good shots of baby boy but baby girl is facing my back so we don't have good pics of her. We are doing the 4D ultrasound on October 9. Hopefully the babies will cooperate!

Doctor's Orders

Yesterday I visited my doctor to follow up from the incident this weekend. She recommended that I go on bed rest for the remainder of my pregnancy. The good news is I am not dilated so I can still get up a little bit throughout the day but need to spend the majority of my time off my feet. We want to get these babies as close to term as possible before they make their entrance into this world. I am 12 weeks away from my due date and 8 weeks away from the 36 week mark. We appreciate all of the prayers and support from our friends and family! We feel very loved and lucky to have you all in our lives. Our next ultrasound is tomorrow and I now see our doctor every week. We will keep you posted on the progress of the twins.

Dallas Shower with a Little Added Excitement

We'll start with the added excitement and then I will tell you about the shower. John and I drove into Dallas on Friday night and were staying with our good friends Josh and Amanda. At about 12:30 Saturday morning I woke up with what I thought was heartburn. Well the heartburn got progressively worse and I was having trouble catching my breath. By the time I woke up John my back was killing me too and I was sure I was having contractions. We went to the ER where they admitted me to Labor and Delivery. I was hooked up to a monitor. Both babies heart rates were good but I was definitely having contractions. I wasn't dilated but they still gave me a shot of medication to stop them which worked immediately. The nurse said they could be Braxton Hicks contractions or they could be preterm labor, but there was no way to tell the difference. The doctor came in and lectured me for traveling at 28 weeks pregnant with twins and told me to go home as soon as possible. It was a scary night but ended okay. One thing is for sure, I will definitely be getting an epidural during the real thing after experiencing what the nurse called "mild contractions." Ha!

Since I was feeling fine we decided to stay for the shower which was on Saturday morning. I took it easy at the shower, but was so glad I stayed. My good friend Lea and her mom Sharon hosted. Everything was wonderful. It was so good to see my college friends who I miss so much! I always have so much fun laughing with these girls. Thanks to everyone for coming and once again being so generous with your baby gifts. Love you girls! Here are some photos from the shower:

We got back home Saturday evening safe and sound. I am feeling fine but spending most of my time with my feet up. John has taken on a whole new load of house duties now. He is such an amazing husband. I don't know what I'd do without him. I am calling my doctor tomorrow to see if she has further recommendations and will keep everyone posted. Needless to say our traveling has come to an official end.

Pregnancy Brain

It's official. I've become so scatterbrained and today was just ridiculous. I stopped to get gas after work. I filled up the tank and headed on my way. As I was driving I kept hearing this tapping noise and couldn't figure out what it was. My first thought was "Great. Something else wrong with the car. There goes a couple hundred bucks out the door." I stopped at a light and I hear honking. The lady in the car next to me was pointing at my car. I didn't know what she was pointing at so I just kept on going. Well, I got home and my gas tank was open and the gas cap was dangling from the tank...which had been hitting my car the whole way home. I felt like such an idiot. I think I am more of a blonde these days then a red head. (No offense to my beautiful blond haired friends). The sad thing is I hear that you never quite get all those IQ points back.

First Baby Shower

My two very best friends Ashley and Brandi threw us the most beautiful baby shower yesterday. Everything was perfect. From the flowers and decorations to the food and games, they really thought of everything. I am so blessed to have them both in my life. I know they will become very important to the babies as well. It was great to see everyone who attended! Everyone was very generous so our nurseries are filling up with all of the sweet things that the babies need. I loved receiving so many books! I think we received over two dozen for the babies' collection. The most touching gift was sent by my Great Aunt Mary and Uncle Dick from Pennsylvania. I received the dress that my grandmother wore when she was christened in 1920. My grandmother passed away four years ago so naturally this present brought many tears. Aunt Mary also made us two baby blankets that are exactly the same as the blankets that my grandmother made all of her grandchildren as a babies. It was so thoughtful and I am very thankful to have such great family in my life. Here are some photos of the fantastic day!

Doctor's Appointment

My doctor's appointment went well this morning. Our baby girl's heart rate was 146 and our baby boy's heart rate was 154. I'm a week and a half past the six month mark and have gained 17 pounds so far. Our next ultrasound is September 23. I can't wait to see my kiddos again!
