What a month!

The babies have changed so much this month.  While Clara took a month from first sitting up to sitting for long periods of time, George sat up by himself one day and a week later he was sitting up all alone playing.  It is like things just click for him or maybe he won't do it until he is really interested in it.  It is great to watch them both sitting up playing and usually fighting over or taking each others toys.  Yep that has already started!  George likes to stand now too.  Less then a month ago he wouldn't even put full weight on his legs.  John and I are so pleased to see his growth.  Clara is now pulling up to standing.  Yikes!  She is also transitioning out of sitting to put full weight on her arms.  I guess this is a precursor to crawling.  I have had many conversations with both George and Clara to inform them that they can wait another month or so to become mobile.  I am so not ready to chase the twins and in two different directions no doubt!   George and Clara are more and more aware of each other.  They are excited to see each other in the morning and carry on a full conversation including lots of laughter.  They also pat each other when they are upset and seem to reach out for hugs.  Clara gives George big kisses on his check (which is really a big lick).  They are so funny!  Another fun thing about this month is that we've been able to spend so much time with my mom since she is off for the summer.  We see her multiple times each week.  Whether we are swimming, shopping, or just playing we always have fun with Grammy!

The tough stuff this month...illness, teething, and separation anxiety.  Poor George caught some kind of virus which resulted in a horrible rash all over his cute face.  He was super fussy and just overall an unhappy baby.  Poor thing!  When the fussiness didn't stop after the illness went away, we went back to the doctor who informed us George is teething.  The doctor sadly told me that this fussiness could go on for 3 months before a tooth actually cuts through!  I miss my happy laughing little man but it seems the fussiness comes and goes so he must not be uncomfortable all the time.  Poor guy!  Clara on the other hand is experiencing insane separation anxiety.  She screams her head off if I leave the room for any length of time.  Sometimes she screams if I am not right next to her or holding her even if I am in the same room.  This is a challenge with two babies who both need attention and there is only one Mommy.  No one can really tell me how long this phase might last but I have a feeling it may stick around for awhile since she hasn't gotten any better over the past few weeks.  Sigh.  Just another bump in the parenting road.

Regardless of the difficulties they are at a really fun age where the world is so interesting to them.  It's awesome to watch them explore things.  It is almost like you can see the wheels turning in those little heads trying to figure things out.  John and I frequently find ourselves in fits of laughter watching them play.  It's just wonderful!  Can't wait to see what the next few months bring.
