Jack's Second Month

Happy Two Months Little Guy!  You sure brighten our days with your sweet smiles!

At his two month doctor's appointment Jack was 23 inches long and weighed 12 lbs 9 oz.  I love how much he is growing,  He is even getting those cute chubby baby thighs.  The best!

At the beginning of his second month, he was diagnosed with reflux and given some medicine to make his tummy feel better.  This resulted in much less crying and he actually enjoys being put down now.  Jack found his hand and his thumb went straight in his mouth.  He sucks on it pretty often which is great for self soothing.

During the day he pushed his feedings to every three hours.  At night he is still hit or miss with sleeping long stretches.  Jack has slept for 6 hours but usually still wakes up every 2-3.  We are working on stretching out those times because I am one sleep deprived Mommy at this point.  I hope at the next monthly update I can type that he is sleeping through the night!

Jack is smiling a lot.  He smiled big at me at 5 weeks and hasn't stopped.  It is one of the most beautiful sights to see your child's first smiles. His little personality is definitely starting to show.  Jack is cooing more.  He will actually have a little back and forth cooing time with me as if we are having a conversation.  This usually results in big smiles from both of us.  He is tracking objects well and recognizes voices.  Jack can find us in the room if we talk to him from afar.

Jack rolled over on the couch at 6 weeks.  We won't count that as his actual first time rolling over since the couch cushions helped, but he is starting to learn that if he shifts his weight then he will move.  Jack loves his "move and groove" time on a blanket on the floor.  His arms and legs get going really fast.  It's pretty fun to watch. He will also put all of his weight on his legs when we stand him up. Jack loves to be outdoors.  He is always very calm when we are outside and observes everything around him.

Jack is still not a fan of tummy time.  He is also not a fan of his car seat.  Jack was screaming about every second he was strapped into it.  This was hard on me and the twins.  It isn't fun being stuck in a car with a screaming baby and being unable to do anything about it.  He is starting to calm down in the car so I hope quiet car rides are on the horizon.

Jack is still in love with the fan, just like his big brother was.  When he watches the fan we've started to hear the beginning of laughter.  His little giggles are so sweet. Jack is able to hold an object if it is put in his hand and he is beginning to reach out and try to grab or bat at objects.  This is just the beginning of toy play!

George and Clara are pretty awesome with their little brother.  They help me change diapers.  They help me calm him down when he is upset.  They also try to entertain him while I do quick things in the house.  Even with all the bumps along the road, I've really enjoyed watching them evolve into a sweet big brother and a wonderful big sister.

I am enjoying every moment of getting to know Jack.  We've been blessed with a very sweet baby.  We love you little guy!
