First Day of MDO

George and Clara started their MDO year today.  They were both really excited to go to school and were trying to push me out the door way before it was time to leave.  They are in a class with some kiddos from their class last year and some new faces.  I've heard wonderful things about their teachers and can see they both really enjoy their job.  The class is much more like pre-k then last year.

They are in the "owl class" this year.  

They had no trouble with being dropped off.  They got settled in and started coloring with one of their teachers right away.  They gave me big kisses and hugs and said goodbye.  When I picked them up the teachers said they were awesome all day long.  I am so proud of them!  We went out for ice cream as a treat for getting a stellar report today!

I know they will thrive in this educational and loving environment!  I can't wait to see what new adventures this year will bring!

Happy Birthday John!

John turned 32 this Monday.  We had a whole weekend of celebrations starting with a date night.  We went to my brother's restaurant and were treated to a six...yes you read that right...six course off the menu meal.  We had such a great night thanks to my big brother!

On Monday we started the day with John's birthday breakfast.

Clara had a fever that day so we cancelled the big party we were planning.  Our families however were not deterred by a little fever.  No one wanted to miss the celebration.  My parents, John's parents, John's sister, and my brother came over for dinner.  We were treated to one of my brother's culinary creations.  It was delicious!  He is seriously talented.

John opened presents and we had a yummy cake from our favorite bakery.

We are pretty lucky when it comes to family.  We always feel so blessed when we are surrounded by all the people we love the most.

Happy birthday John!  We hope you enjoyed all of your celebrations.  You are so very very loved!

Lake Livingston

We spent the weekend with The Carter's at their family lake house this past weekend.  We got in on Friday night, went out to dinner, and headed to the house to get settled.  We let George, Clara, and Allison sleep in the same room.  It was a party until 10:30 pm both nights!

We woke up Saturday morning to a beautiful day and enjoyed the gorgeous views from the deck with coffee in hand.

 
George and Clara had lots of firsts on Saturday.  First boat ride.  First dip in a lake.  First time to fish.  George was even super brave and did the rope swing off the dock.  So fun!

On Sunday we had one more fishing adventure before we went home and George caught his first fish, a catfish! 

Thanks for the great weekend Jake, Maria, Allison, and Kate!  We had a blast!

Strumming on the guitar

Grandma and Pop-pop Wanno bought George and Clara guitars this summer.  They LOVE them.  It is quite adorable to watch them strumming on the guitar.  Clara has a sweet style, more folky then anything.  George on the other hand is a total rocker.  Love my little musicians!
