The nerves came back on the drive over and John didn't help matters much by asking me every few minutes if I was okay. The twins were excited about it. For the past few days we've been talking it up and telling them how fun it would be and that we were going to leave but we would be back. When we got there Clara was excited to see all the other kids. She was waving to everyone. This girl cracks me up! We headed into the classroom, greeted their teachers, and followed the morning routine. Once they were all set up, we watched them start playing with the cars together. They seemed comfortable so we kissed them goodbye and told them we would be back. I was shocked that they just kept on playing. We walked out of the classroom and heard no screaming. I thought to myself, "I guess they are alright" and breathed a sigh of relief. As John and I were walking out we saw another Mommy crying on her husband's shoulder after leaving her little one at MDO. I guess the separation anxiety goes both ways sometimes. Here are some photos of the kiddos this morning and in their classroom:
Ready for school reading our books!

We quickly got tired of taking pictures!

Getting settled in the classroom.
Hoping for a good day!
John and I went to Starbucks and enjoyed a coffee outside. We ran some errands, went home to do some housework, and then went out to lunch. I have to say it was strangely quiet during the day. Something for me to get used to. I also have to say I can see my life getting a little easier with MDO. I know I will be able to get things done around the house and run errands while they are having fun at school.
When we picked the twins up the teachers said they were fantastic. They didn't cry at all when we left. They participated in the activities, ate their snack/lunch, and played well. The only time during the day where they cried was nap time. This is a regular occurrence at home too. George took a short nap and Clara didn't sleep at all, but overall a successful first day of school! I hope Thursday goes as smoothly!
