Jack Nine and Ten Months

I slacked over the holidays and didn't post Jack's nine month pics and update so I will post two months in one.  Consider it a double dose of Mr. Jack or Jack Jack or Jacky Pants.  He has a lot of nicknames around here.  He is also one busy little guy.

Happy Nine Months Jack!!!

Happy Ten Months Jack!!!

Jack started spitting out all of his baby food.  He was not into it at all.  The problem is the child is still toothless.  After consulting some Mommy friends I was encouraged to just go for it with tiny bites of real food.  Well Jack loved it and hasn't had a bite of pureed anything since.  He eats whatever we eat just in little bitty bites. He is a great eater and will eat most anything.  Jack is not into pasta or cheese at the moment which is completely different from the twins.  Jack is also getting used to drinking from a sippy cup.  He still has his bottles but this will help him when we get rid of the bottles at a year.  He drinks a juice/water mix during meal times and seems to love it.

Jack says a couple of words.  He definitely says Momma and Dada.  Jack also says, "Up" when he wants you to pick him up.  He started using some sign language too.  Jack will sign to us when he is "finished" eating.  I am trying to teach him the sign for "more" as well.  Jack waves hello and goodbye and sometimes will say, "Ba!" when Daddy is leaving the house.

Jack is a mover!  He crawls everywhere but also cruises along walls and furniture.  He took his first independent steps the week before his 10 month mark.  Jack will take a few steps from the couch to me and vice versa without holding on.  He can walk along next to us holding one of our hands.  He can also stand holding his balance.  Jack just needs a little more confidence to really take off.  Daddy taught him how to climb the stairs.  It is one of his favorite things to do.

Jack loves to play imitation games with us too.  He will imitate anything that you do like brushing your hair or clapping your hands.  Jack is figuring out how to make a lot of his toys work as well.  His play has more purpose which is fun to watch.  He still adores playing chase with George and Clara and wants to be near them.  At the same time, he can also play independently without much complaint.

Jack recently started showing a lot of interest in story books.  He listens to us read to him and when we turn the page he says "Ooooo" when he sees the picture.  It is quite cute.

Jack still adores his time outdoors.  If George and Clara go outside and I am busy doing something in the house, he will bang on the door until I take him outside.  He loves to swing, crawl in the grass, walk in his walker on our driveway, and slide down our slide.

We put away our infant tub when Jack was nine months old.  He really enjoys his big kid baths.  He crawls around in the tub.  Stands up to grab at toys.  He enjoys splashing and playing in the water.

Unfortunately over the past few months Jack has spent a lot of time sick.  Right after Thanksgiving he got Roseola, which is a common rash/fever combination in kiddos.  It is a virus so there is nothing that can be done to cure it.  You just have to manage the symptoms.  The poor guy had 103 degree fever at one point.  He was so lethargic and unhappy.  It was terrible to see him like that.  With daily oatmeal baths for the rash and staying on top of our fever reducer, he got through it in a few days.  Poor guy has also had two colds and one respiratory infection that required antibiotics.  This cold and flu season has been tough on our whole family.  Here's hoping we stay healthy for awhile now!

Jack is starting to show a full range of emotions.  He lets you know when he is mad.  Jack's cry changes if he hurt himself versus if he is sad.  His laugh and smile are contagious.  It is so fun to watch his personality emerge.  I think we are going to have another goofball on our hands like Georgie but he also seems equally determined like Clarabear.

It's hard to believe in two short months we will celebrate Jack's first birthday.  He is a joy to have in our lives and really does complete our family.  We love you sweet Jack...to the moon and back!
