Over the holidays Clara decided she was done napping. Instead of napping she was going to climb out of her crib, repeatedly. Although Mommy wasn't ready, Clara was ready for her crib to be converted into a toddler bed. We figured we might as well get it over with all at once so we switched George too.
I can't even adequately describe my mommy anxiety the first night they were in their beds. I had child proofed their rooms then double, triple, and quadruple checked to make sure everything was "safe." We told them very firmly not to get out of bed until we got them in the morning. We tucked them in, went downstairs, and anxiously watched the monitor. There was a little more whining then usual and then they just went to sleep. I was amazed. I didn't sleep well for about three nights, but it was all for nothing. They stayed in bed, slept through the night, and waited until we got them in the morning. Such good kids! Nap time was a different story. They didn't nap for three days. George didn't get out at all. He just played in his bed. Clara got out a few times but eventually got used to the bed and started sleeping.
I can't believe how big these two are. This was a major milestone for Mommy. When we put their new toddler bedding in, a few tears were shed. It is hard to let go of all of the baby days and watch these two grow up. Some days I want to freeze time just so I can make sure to soak it all in before the next phase begins. John is always excited about these milestones. He looks forward to all of the new adventures and is one proud Daddy.
